About
Join GEO and help solve global challenges through Earth intelligence. GEO unites governments, international organisations, research institutions, businesses, and civil society in a collaborative platform to build a more sustainable and resilient future. Be a part of a diverse network working across sectors to tackle complex issues with coordinated, impactful solutions.
Participating Organisations play a pivotal role in influencing GEO’s technical and policy decisions, as well as contributing to the Work Programme. Through active involvement in GEO’s Plenary and Programme Board, organisations help shape the network’s strategic direction.
As part of the global Earth observation community, they gain access to valuable expertise and knowledge, particularly in the areas of climate change, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable development.
Benefits and Opportunities
How to Become a Participating Organisation?
GEO welcomes, as Participating Organisations, organisations with a global or regional (multi-country) mandate and scope of operations that have an active interest in or are a user of Earth observations, information and services – that is the full spectrum and/or value chain from data collection to use. These may include intergovernmental, international, and regional organizations, development banks, foundations, non-governmental organizations, and not-for-profit associations of commercial entities.
To be recognized as a Participating Organisation of GEO, candidates must express their interest by submitting an application through the online application form.
Candidates must identify their proposed contributions to GEO, including, but not limited to, involvement in the GEO Work Programme, and/or the function performed by their organisation that would benefit the broader community of Earth observation users and advance the vision of GEO. Examples include capacity building, data sharing, development of products and services, advocacy, communication and outreach, and application and use of Earth observation-based decision-support tools for the benefit of society. Applicants must endorse the GEO Post-2025 Strategy and its implementation.
All applications are subject to the approval of the Executive Committee, and the GEO Secretariat will notify applicants of the outcome in due course.
